Lost

Oil on canvas

January 2023

“Sometimes I feel lost, I ask myself too many questions, wonder if I'm making the right choices. Sometimes I wish I just knew the answers. And at some point I started to tell myself "just live in the moment". Not because I fully believe it, but because the past is full of mistakes, and the future is too uncertain. But when I paint, I live in the moment for the joy of the moment.”

This painting captures the tension between self-reflection and the fast pace of life. The black figure, undefined and ghostly, represents a feeling of being lost—watching others move forward while struggling to find clarity and purpose. Its lack of sharp outlines reflects my sense of being a “work in progress,” shaped by external expectations but still searching for inner fulfillment.

The vibrant, swirling background mirrors the chaos and movement of the world. It symbolizes the twists and turns of others’ paths, constantly in motion, while the central figure remains still—a quiet observer amidst the rush.

The painting is a deeply personal expression of uncertainty, self-comparison, and the longing for answers. Yet, it also conveys a moment of solace and presence—the act of painting itself allows me to live fully in the present, embracing joy despite the uncertainties of the past and future.

This work invites viewers to reflect on their own struggles with identity, time, and purpose, reminding us all that growth often comes from embracing the questions rather than seeking all the answers.
